Connect, Support, Illuminate As the host of the first follow up event to the launch of Now Lunenburg County, I can honestly say how happy I am with the event. We had a great turnout. People were genuinely interested in meeting each other, the conversations were rich and the presentations succinct and informative. We enjoyed the time together with good food and music. One of our goals as the Core Team is to connect people. I was able to introduce people who I knew shared similar interests but did not know each other. Change will happen when we are able to connect as many folks as possible who want change, share ideas and passion for those ideas and are willing to act. The evening was a great opportunity for people to feel supported by others who share similar beliefs about what needs to happen in Lunenburg County. Sometimes working for change can be a very lonely endeavour! The room was full of like-minded folks and I personally thrive on the energy I got from the event that night. One of the highlights of the evening for me was the presentation by Lisa Wolfe of Ross Farm Museum. Lisa talked about the museum's heritage skills project. It became very clear that this project based in New Ross is now seeking out ways to broaden the reach of the project to the entire county. The museum will be looking at their role in supporting businesses and cultural activities that highlight these heritage skills. The tourism and business opportunities are significant. For me, this is all about preserving the past yet not letting it become an albatross around our neck and limiting our opportunities! Illuminating Lisa Wolfe's work helps us to think bigger, to think about the possibilities and the opportunities and to reach out to act together as a larger community.
