Story by TINA HENNIGAR
We’re lucky to have access to the ocean in Lunenburg County, where within an easy 30 minute drive, you can be walking on the sandy shores, gazing at an ocean of white capped waves. It’s one Lunenburg County man’s hope to get people off the sand onto the waves. Like most passionate surfers, it was Johnathan Gregorash’s dream to own a surfing business. Johnathan and his wife were thinking of what they could do as a business in Petite Rivière when they looked at each other and thought,
‘Of course! Why wouldn’t we create a business out of our passion?’ “We wanted to spend time together enjoying the very reason why we moved here: the beach! Now I get to ride this wave of excitement and make . a go of it.” For Johnathan who has a love of and experience in recreation, it wasn’t that much of a leap.
“The surfing culture was the one thing missing from here. We have artisans here who can go toe to toe with anyone in the world, but no one was thinking about the opportunities on the ocean. Well, aside from surfers,” Johnathan laughed. Swell Time Board Co. provides surfing lessons for individuals and groups. For years Johnathan worked with youth at the . YMCA and it was important to offer

something to do in our area that didn’t involve drinking.
And so now, with his young family, impressive supply of surf boards and his passion for the ocean, Johnathan plans on encouraging tourists and locals alike to not just look at the . ocean, but to dive right in.
“We have some of the world’s best surf . so close by. We might as well ride the wave.” Visit: swelltimeboard.co
