That is not to say we are as culturally diverse as we could be and we're always eager to learn from other counties and cultures. An example of that would be a Julio. Julio moved to Lunenburg County from Cuba. He knew he needed to learn better English. He also knew how to salsa dance! So he began teaching salsa to some fun folks in Lunenburg County. He also missed baseball in his home country- but lucky for him, and us, he joined the local youth baseball league as a coach and quickly became a real recognized and well-liked in the community. Before he knew it, he was speaking incredible English and made incredible friends! What is the best way to meet new friends?
As we always tell people who are new to Lunenburg County, if you want to meet new people, go to a community breakfast! You'll find them in most communitites in our county- actually, in the province! In firehalls, legions, community halls- community breakfasts are a great way to meet people because they're really good fundraisers. The fact that the breakfasts are typically amazing, and affordable, it simply a bonus.
What we love about these community breakfasts for newcomers is that the tables are long and seat many, which means you are forced to sit with others. And even for the most shy people, it's truly an easy way to meet people. We also have many farmers markets in Lunenburg County; another great friend-finding event. And if you want a hero's welcome, go to your local fire department. They're always looking for new volunteers. In fact, if you are looking to give back to the community and volunteer, you'll have no trouble making new friends. There is no shortage pf places for you to get involved and meet new people.
